There were just over 200 women in the virtual room. Women from different places, different experiences, and different stages of their lives and leadership. Some were entrepreneurs, some were professionals, and some were still figuring out what their next step would be. All of them showed up with a willingness to grow.

And on March 17 at 9am CST, I was the one leading the conversation.

That still feels significant to say out loud, not because it was a single moment, but because of everything that led up to it. This did not start with the summit. It started months earlier in smaller rooms, shorter talks and spaces where I was still learning how to use my voice in a different way. Through the Women Thrive Speaker Showcases, I had the opportunity to share pieces of my message in shorter segments and continue developing my voice in this space. Those rooms gave me space to practice, to stretch and to get more comfortable being seen and heard in a different way.

I was also showing up more consistently in visible ways through my posts, through my reels and through choosing to share my voice before everything felt fully formed. Before I felt completely ready. Before I had it all figured out. Looking back, I can see that I was building something long before this moment arrived. Last year, I had the opportunity to contribute an article to the Women Thrive Magazine, which allowed me to be part of the space through writing and reflection. This year, I returned as a speaker and was included on the March 2026 magazine cover alongside the other speakers. I am not going to downplay that. I am a cover girl!

And more than anything, it felt like a full circle moment connected to the work I had already been doing behind the scenes.

The week leading up to the summit felt different. There was excitement, there was gratitude, and if I am honest, there was also pressure. This was my first time delivering a full 45-minute speaking session, and my first time speaking to a global audience in this way. I wanted to do it well. And that is where I had to be honest with myself, because I know what it looks like when preparation starts to shift into something else. Perfectionism has a way of disguising itself as preparation. It sounds responsible and it feels productive, but if I am not careful, it can keep me adjusting, editing, and refining long after I am already ready. I could feel that tension in the days leading up to the talk. Wanting to make sure every point was clear, every transition was smooth, and every word landed the way I intended. But at some point, I had to make a decision. Not about whether I was ready, but about whether I was willing to show up. On the morning of the session, everything became very real. Logging on, seeing the space, knowing that women from around the world were in the room. And in that moment, I realized I did not need more preparation. I needed presence.

As I began the session, I asked my first question, and immediately the chat came alive. Women responding in real time, naming what they were feeling. Calm. Inspired. Confident. Brave. As we moved deeper into the conversation, the responses became more personal and more honest.

Perfectionism is my problem.
This is me.
I am in this slide.
Being ready is a myth.

There were moments where I intentionally invited participation, and each time, the response was immediate. You could see the recognition happening in real time as women named themselves in the conversation and connected their own experiences to what was being shared. And what stood out to me was not just the volume of the chat, but the depth of it. This was not surface-level engagement. This was reflection, honesty and awareness happening live in the room. There were moments where I found myself leaning all the way in, fully engaged in what I was saying and how it was landing. I even had to adjust my positioning because I was so into the message and the delivery. I was not thinking about what was next. I was in it. And I did not fall apart the way I had feared. I did not lose my place. I did not forget everything I wanted to say. I did not need perfection to carry me through. Instead, I found my rhythm. I trusted the structure I had built, and I stayed grounded in the message I came to share.

After the session, during a brief conversation, the co-host said something that stayed with me. “Thank you for coaching us.” That moment brought something full circle. Because when I was preparing for my first speaking engagement representing my brand, someone told me to approach my talk as if I were facilitating. At the time, I did not fully understand what that meant. Now I do. I did not deliver a presentation. I held a coaching conversation in a larger room. That is why the chat was active. That is why people were responding in real time. That is why the engagement felt different. It was not about delivering information. It was about creating space for reflection, honesty, and movement.

When it was over, there was a moment to pause. To exhale. To sit with what had just happened. And what stood out to me most was not whether every word was exactly right. It was the realization that I had done it. Not because I felt fully ready, but because I showed up anyway. The very framework I shared during my talk, that courage leads to action, action creates evidence, and evidence builds confidence, was not just something I taught. It was something I lived in that moment.

What this experience reminded me is that confidence does not come before the moment. It is built in the moment. It is built through the decision to move forward even when there is still uncertainty. This is something I see often in the women I work with. Brilliant, capable, thoughtful women who are doing meaningful work, and yet they are waiting. Waiting to feel more ready, waiting to have more clarity, waiting to feel more certain before they take the next step. Not because they lack ability, but because perfectionism is quietly asking them to hold back just a little longer. To adjust one more thing. To review one more time. To wait until it feels just right.

But there are moments where waiting no longer serves you. Moments where the next step is not more preparation. It is movement. I did not just prepare for this moment. I practiced showing up long before it arrived. In smaller rooms, in visible ways, and in moments that felt uncertain. And when the opportunity came, I was able to step into it not because everything was perfect, but because I had built the willingness to move forward anyway. That is what creates momentum. That is what builds confidence. Not perfection. Not certainty. But action.

So, if you find yourself in a season where you are thinking, planning, preparing, and still not moving, I want to leave you with this. Where might preparation be keeping you in place when it is actually time to move forward? And what would it look like to take one step, not when everything feels perfect, but when you know you are ready enough.

Can I be honest with you about something? I have been there. Staring at goals that once excited me and feeling nothing. Going through the motions of activities that used to bring me joy and wondering where that spark went. Wondering if my sense of purpose had slipped away or if I was simply moving through a season of change.

If this resonates with you, if you are reading this and thinking, “Yes, this is exactly where I am,” I want you to know something important. Your spark is not gone. It is not broken. It is not lost forever. Sometimes it is just buried under the weight of exhaustion, overwhelm, and the relentless pace we have been keeping.

August carries an interesting energy. Summer is still here, yet we can feel the shift coming. Kids are preparing for school, fall projects are on the horizon, and there is an underlying pressure to make the most of these final weeks of summer. But what if, instead of pushing through, we used this time to gently tend to the flame within us that has been flickering?

In my last post, The Art of Letting Go: Summer Decluttering for Mind, Body and Soul, I shared how releasing what no longer serves us makes space for what truly brings us alive. This week, I want to build on that idea by exploring what happens when we realize our spark feels dim and how we can gently tend it back to life by reconnecting to purpose.

Understanding the Summer Slump

First, let us normalize something. Feeling burned out or disconnected in the middle of the year is incredibly common. We begin January with fire and determination. We push hard through spring, trying to keep the momentum going. By midsummer, many of us hit a wall.

This is not failure. This is human.

Our bodies and souls move through seasons just as nature does. Sometimes we are in a season of growth and high energy. Sometimes we are in a season of rest and restoration. And sometimes we are in that tender space between seasons, not quite dormant but not yet fully alive. That is okay too.

What I have learned through my own seasons of disconnection is that trying to force excitement usually backfires. I have learned that passion can ebb and flow, but purpose is the thread that carries me through. When I have felt disconnected, it was not about forcing myself to be excited again. It was about returning to my “why,” my sense of purpose. That is what steadied me until the spark returned.

Instead of pushing ourselves harder, we need to approach ourselves with the same gentleness we would show a dear friend who is struggling. If you’ve read my post on optimizing your strengths, you know that connecting back to what energizes us is a powerful way to find direction. The same applies here.

The Difference Between Rest and Burnout

Before we talk about reigniting your spark, it is important to distinguish between needing rest and experiencing burnout. Rest is restorative. Even when you are tired, there is still a sense of yourself underneath. You can find joy in small moments, still feel connected to your values, and imagine feeling excited about things again.

Burnout feels different. It is the emotional exhaustion that makes everything seem gray. It is cynicism about things that once mattered deeply. It is feeling disconnected not just from your work, but from yourself.

If you are in true burnout territory, please be extra gentle with yourself. The strategies I share here will still help, but you might need additional support from friends, professionals, or simply more time than you expect.

Small Ways to Tend Your Inner Flame

Start with curiosity, not pressure. Instead of asking, “Why do I not feel passionate about anything?” try asking, “What would feel nourishing right now?” Sometimes it is not about doing more, but about creating space for your soul to breathe.

Return to your values. Sometimes the flame feels dim because we have drifted from our purpose, the deeper meaning that fuels us. Reconnecting to your values and your “why” can shift everything. What principles have guided your best decisions? What do you stand for when everything else is stripped away?

Pay attention to what catches your eye. Notice what makes you pause while scrolling social media, what articles you save, what conversations energize you. Your soul leaves breadcrumbs that point you back to your purpose.

Try the “5 percent better” approach. Instead of expecting to feel completely renewed overnight, ask yourself what would make today just a little more aligned with who you want to be. Maybe it is five minutes of creativity, reaching out to someone who inspires you or simply sitting outside without your phone.

Practical Steps to Reconnect with Purpose

Create a purpose inventory. Make a list of what has ever felt meaningful, even if it feels distant now. Include childhood dreams, past hobbies, career aspirations, volunteer experiences, travel destinations. Do not judge what comes up. Just capture it.

Experiment with micro-explorations. Choose three things from your inventory and spend just fifteen minutes exploring each one this week. Read an article, watch a video, visit a website, or simply daydream about it. This is not about commitment. It is about giving yourself permission to explore.

Connect with purposeful people. Energy is contagious. Spend time with people who are excited about their calling or the work they love. Their enthusiasm can remind you of what alignment feels like and awaken the possibility within you.

Document small moments of meaning. Notice throughout your day when you feel even slightly more alive or more grounded in your values. Write these down. Over time, you will see patterns that guide you toward deeper alignment.

Give yourself permission to evolve. What once felt meaningful may not fit this season of your life, and that is perfectly natural. The goals that once energized you may no longer align with who you are becoming. That is not loss, it is growth. Purpose does not stay frozen in time. It expands as you do.

Working Through Purpose Blocks

“I do not have time.” Begin with five-minute investments. Can you read one page while drinking coffee? Listen to a podcast on your commute? These touches with meaningful things can open doors to bigger shifts.

“My purpose does not feel practical.” Who says it has to be? Purpose is about meaning, not productivity. Some of the most soul-nourishing pursuits have nothing to do with career advancement.

“I am scared I will fail.” What if success was not the goal? What if the aim was simply to experience the joy of trying? Exploration itself is a form of alignment.

“I do not know what my purpose is anymore.” That is okay. Purpose is not always a lightning bolt. Sometimes it reveals itself slowly, like a steady light that grows brighter the more attention you give it.

Your Spark Reignition Plan

Think of purpose as the compass that guides your spark. Sometimes it blazes brightly, sometimes it glows quietly, and sometimes it feels like it has gone out. But even when the flame seems faint, there are always embers waiting to be stirred back to life.

It begins with noticing what feels nourishing right now. Maybe it is laughter, a conversation that lifts you, or a curiosity that keeps tugging at your thoughts. These are your kindling.

Allow yourself to experiment gently. Try one small thing that feels aligned. Not because it has to be big, but because it invites you back into exploration.

And then, give your spark room to breathe. Share what inspires you with someone you trust. Celebrate even the smallest flicker. Let it be enough that you are tending to yourself with care. Over time, those embers grow into a steady flame that feels both new and familiar.

The Truth About Reconnecting to Purpose

Purpose is not a one-time discovery. It is something we live into, cultivate and realign with through attention and care. Passion may ebb and flow, but purpose steadies us when the fire feels dim.

Your spark may change, but your purpose remains. It evolves with you. When you reconnect with it, the flame does not just return, it burns steadier and brighter. Your spark may look different now. It may burn for different things or in different seasons. That does not make it less valuable. It makes it authentically yours.

Some days tending your inner flame looks like diving into a project with energy. Other days it looks like holding onto the faith that your spark will return. Both are valid. Both are acts of courage.

The Ripple Effect

When you reconnect with your own purpose, you give others permission to do the same. When you live with curiosity and alignment, you create space for those around you to do what lights them up.

Your purpose matters. Not only for what you may create or achieve, but for who you become in the process of honoring what is meaningful. The world needs people who are awake to their purpose, who tend their inner flame with care.

That person is you. That flame is yours. And it is never too late to add kindling.

What is one small way you could tend to your purpose this week? I believe in your ability to reconnect with what matters most, and I would love to hear about your journey.

Summer has this magical way of inviting us to shed what we no longer need. Maybe it’s the longer days that give us energy to tackle those neglected corners, or perhaps it’s the natural rhythm of the season that whispers, “It’s time to lighten your load.” Whatever it is, August feels like the perfect moment to practice the art of letting go.

I’ve been thinking about this a lot lately, especially after our July conversations about realigning mid-year and having the courage to course-correct. While I was celebrating the wins and recalibrating my goals, I couldn’t ignore the weight of all the things I was still carrying that no longer served me. Old commitments that felt heavy. Mental loops that kept me stuck. Even physical items that cluttered my space and, honestly, my peace of mind. It turns out that giving yourself permission to realign isn’t just about adjusting your goals. It’s also about releasing what’s blocking your path to those goals. If you’re feeling that weight too, you’re not alone. And if you’re ready to create some breathing room in your life, let’s talk about decluttering not just our spaces, but our minds, bodies, and souls.

Why Decluttering Goes Beyond Your Closet

When we think about decluttering, we often picture sorting through clothes or organizing our desks. But true decluttering (the kind that transforms how we feel and move through the world) goes so much deeper. It’s about releasing the mental clutter that keeps us spinning in circles. It’s about letting go of relationships that drain rather than fill us. It’s about saying goodbye to commitments that were born from guilt rather than genuine desire to serve. This summer, I challenge you to think of decluttering as an act of self-respect. Every time you release something that doesn’t align with who you’re becoming, you’re making space for what does.

Decluttering Your Mind: Creating Mental Clarity

Start with your thoughts. What stories are you telling yourself on repeat that aren’t serving you? Maybe it’s “I’m not good enough” or “I should be further along by now.” Write them down. See them for what they are – just thoughts, not truths.

Practice the brain dump. Every morning for the next week, spend five minutes writing down everything swirling in your mind. Don’t edit, don’t organize, just dump. Then look at what you’ve written and ask: “What here actually needs my attention today, and what can I release?”

Curate your information diet. Unsubscribe from newsletters that stress you out. Unfollow social media accounts that make you feel inadequate. Your attention is precious – protect it like the valuable resource it is.

Create boundaries around worry. Set a timer for 10 minutes and allow yourself to worry about whatever is weighing on you. When the timer goes off, close that mental file and redirect your energy to something within your control.

Decluttering Your Body: Honoring Your Physical Space

Start small and build momentum. Choose one drawer, one shelf, or one corner of a room. As you sort through items, ask yourself: “Does this add value to my life right now?” If the answer is no, thank it for its service and let it go.

Apply the one-year rule. If you haven’t used something in a year and it’s not a sentimental keepsake, it’s probably time to release it. Someone else could benefit from what’s just taking up space in your life.

Consider your energy levels. Notice how different spaces in your home make you feel. Does your bedroom feel restful? Does your workspace inspire productivity? Sometimes we need to declutter not just things, but entire energy patterns in our environment.

Don’t forget your digital spaces. Clean up your phone’s photo library. Organize your computer files. Delete apps you never use. Our digital clutter affects our mental state more than we realize.

Decluttering Your Soul: Releasing What Weighs You Down

Examine your commitments. List everything you’ve said yes to in the past six months. Which commitments light you up? Which feel like obligations? It’s okay to gracefully step back from things that aren’t aligned with your values or season of life.

Evaluate your relationships. This doesn’t mean cutting people off, but it does mean being honest about which relationships energize you and which consistently drain you. You have permission to invest more deeply in relationships that are mutual and life-giving.

Release old versions of yourself. Who did you think you had to be to be accepted or successful? What expectations are you carrying that aren’t actually yours? Sometimes the most powerful decluttering we can do is releasing who we thought we should be to make space for who we actually are.

Practice forgiveness – especially self-forgiveness. What mistakes are you still carrying around? What disappointments are you replaying? Forgiveness doesn’t mean forgetting, but it does mean choosing not to let past experiences define your future possibilities.

Your Summer Decluttering Journey

Ready to put this into practice? Start with whatever area calls to you most – your mind, your physical spaces, or your soul. You don’t have to tackle everything at once. Sometimes the most powerful changes happen when we focus on one area and let that momentum naturally flow into the others. Consider creating a simple system for yourself: maybe it’s dedicating 15 minutes each morning to mental decluttering through brain dumps, or choosing one small space to clear each day. The key is consistency over perfection, and progress over pace.

The Freedom on the Other Side

Here’s what I’ve discovered about letting go: every time I release something that isn’t serving me, I create space not just in my physical environment, but in my capacity to show up fully for what matters most. When we declutter our minds, we can think more clearly and make decisions from a place of intention rather than reaction. When we declutter our spaces, we can breathe deeper and move with more ease. When we declutter our souls, we can love ourselves and others more freely. This isn’t about perfection or having a social media-worthy life. It’s about creating breathing room for your dreams, your relationships, and your growth. It’s about honoring the person you’re becoming by releasing what belongs to who you used to be. And speaking of becoming… once you create this space, once you clear away what’s no longer serving you, something beautiful happens. You start to reconnect with what truly lights you up. You begin to remember what brings you alive. Which is exactly what we’ll explore in our next conversation.

Your Turn

What’s one thing – a thought, a commitment, a physical item – that you know you’re ready to release? Start there. Start small. Start today. Remember, decluttering isn’t about having less for the sake of having less. It’s about making space for more of what brings you alive. And that, my friend, is worth celebrating. Here’s to creating space for all the beautiful things waiting to bloom in your life.

What will you choose to release this summer? I’d love to hear about your decluttering journey – share in the comments or reach out. You don’t have to do this alone.

Two weeks ago, I wrote about giving yourself permission to realign mid-year without pressure or guilt. Since then, I’ve been reflecting on what it really takes to make those mid-year adjustments. Here’s what I keep coming back to: It takes real courage to course-correct. Not just to acknowledge where you are, but to trust yourself enough to change direction when needed. There’s something powerful that happens when we stop pretending everything is perfectly on track and start embracing the truth of our actual journey. It’s messy. It’s human. And it’s exactly where transformation begins.

The Courage to See Clearly

In my work with leaders and through my own journey, I’ve learned that the most significant growth happens not when we have it all figured out, but when we have the courage to get honest about where we really are. Maybe you’ve discovered you’re further along than you thought in some areas. Maybe you’ve realized you’ve been chasing goals that no longer align with who you’re becoming. Maybe you’re somewhere in between—celebrating wins while acknowledging the areas that need attention.

Here’s what I’ve learned: It takes courage to honestly assess your year without the January optimism or December desperation. It requires you to sit in the space between where you thought you’d be and where you actually are—and find compassion for the person who’s been doing their best with what they had. But here’s the gift in that courage: When you can see clearly, you can choose consciously.

Self-Confidence as Your Course-Correction Compass

I recently wrote about self-confidence for Women Thrive Magazine, and preparing for July Masterclass deepened that perspective. I’ve realized something powerful: Self-confidence isn’t about having all the answers. It’s about trusting yourself to find them. The people who are ready to make changes aren’t the ones who have everything figured out. They’re the ones who trust themselves enough to pivot without shame. They understand that confidence comes not from perfection, but from believing in their ability to adapt and grow. When we lack confidence in our ability to course-correct, we stay stuck in goals and strategies that no longer serve us. We keep pushing forward with January’s plan even when July’s wisdom is whispering that it’s time for something different. But when we trust ourselves—our growth, our intuition, our capacity for change—we can ask the questions that matter:

“What would I do if I trusted my instincts completely?”

“Where am I giving my power away to perfectionism?”

“What would change if I celebrated progress over perfection?”

From Insight to Action: The Power of 90 Days

Instead of trying to salvage the entire year or overwhelming yourself with six months of catch-up, what if you focused on the next 90 days? There’s something magical about a 90-day window. It’s long enough to create meaningful change but short enough to maintain focus and momentum. This approach allows for what I call values-based pivoting. The most sustainable course corrections aren’t about forcing yourself back onto an old path. They’re about aligning with your evolving values and priorities.

Consider this: You can celebrate what’s working while adjusting what isn’t. You don’t have to throw everything out to make changes. Maybe you’ve been incredible at building your business but have neglected your health. Instead of feeling like a failure, you can celebrate your professional growth while intentionally designing your next 90 days to include more movement and self-care.

This is what I call the both/and mindset—honoring your progress while making space for growth.

Your Mid-Year Permission Slip

If you’re reading this and feeling ready to reassess, consider this your official mid-year permission slip:

Permission to change direction. The goals you set in January were based on who you were then. You’re allowed to honor who you’re becoming now.

Permission to be proud of unexpected progress. Maybe you didn’t lose the weight, but you learned to speak up for yourself. Maybe you didn’t write the book, but you deepened your relationships. Growth comes in many forms.

Permission to want different things than you did in January. Your desires are allowed to evolve as you do. What felt important six months ago might not align with your current priorities, and that’s not failure—it’s growth.

Permission to trust your growth journey, even when it doesn’t look linear. The most meaningful transformations rarely follow a straight line. Your detours might be exactly where your biggest breakthroughs are waiting.

Confidence in Action

Here’s what I know for certain: The person who started 2025 with you is not the same person reading this post today. You’ve grown, learned, and evolved in ways both big and small. That growth deserves to be honored, and it deserves to guide your next steps. Course-correcting is not failing. It is confidence in action. It is trusting yourself enough to adapt, grow, and choose again.

I recently led the Masterclass Reset & Reignite: Your Mid-Year Power Hour Plus, and I was so inspired by the honest reflections and powerful intentions that came out of that session. It was a reminder that we’re never alone in our desire to realign, and that meaningful change begins with a single courageous step.

If today’s message resonates with you and you’re craving more support, there’s still time to access the full experience through the VIP Momentum Pack. It includes the replay of the live session, a printable monthly planning journal, and a five-part coaching-style email series to help you reflect, reignite, and stay grounded in what matters most. This bundle is available through August 12. Get the VIP Momentum Pack for $49 and give yourself the time, space, and tools to reset with clarity and purpose.

The rest of 2025 is waiting for the person you are becoming. Not the version of you from January, but the version who has grown and learned in the months since. That person is wiser, stronger, and more aligned than you may realize.

What will you choose to honor about your growth?
And what will you choose to adjust to support who you are still becoming?

What’s one area where you’re ready to trust your instincts and course-correct? Share in the comments. Your courage might be exactly what someone else needs to see.

The year is more than halfway over. Can you believe it? Somehow, July always seems to arrive faster than expected. One minute we’re writing our goals with fresh energy in January, and the next, we’re blinking at summer wondering: Where did the time go? If you’re feeling like the year is flying by and you haven’t quite made the progress you hoped for—you’re not alone. Maybe you’ve been pushing through on autopilot. Maybe you set goals back in January that no longer align with who you are today. Or maybe you never set any at all because life had other plans.

Whatever your path has looked like, this is your invitation to pause, reflect, and realign. Not with pressure. Not with guilt. But with purpose.

Why a Mid-Year Reset Matters

We often think the only times to “start fresh” are January 1st or maybe when September rolls around. But the truth is—you can reset anytime. July is actually a powerful moment to do so. We’re far enough into the year to have collected lessons, clarity, and data about what’s working and what’s not. And there’s still enough time left to make real, aligned progress. This isn’t about grinding harder. It’s about shifting gears intentionally.

A mid-year reset gives you permission to:

Acknowledge your wins (no matter how small)

Release goals that no longer resonate

Reconnect with your values and vision

Build momentum without burnout

Where Are You Now?

Take a moment. Breathe. And ask yourself:

What has gone well in the first half of the year?

Where did I show resilience?

What felt aligned? What didn’t?

What areas of my life are asking for more attention?

You don’t need all the answers right now. But tuning in is the first step.

Common Mid-Year Mindset Traps (and How to Avoid Them)

We tend to spiral into extremes during check-in moments:

Trap 1: “I’ve wasted too much time.” You haven’t. You’ve learned. You’ve adapted. You’ve survived—and maybe even thrived in ways that aren’t measured by a checklist.

Trap 2: “I need to do it all now.” Nope. Resetting doesn’t mean cramming 12 months of progress into 6. It means choosing the next right steps for you—not chasing someone else’s pace.

Trap 3: “It’s too late to set goals now.” Not true. In fact, now might be the best time. Because now you’re moving with more insight, lived experience, and wisdom than you had in January.

A New Kind of Goal Setting

Traditional goal-setting often starts with external markers: income targets, weight goals, business metrics, etc. But what if we started with your values instead? Ask yourself:

What matters most to me right now?

How do I want to feel this fall?

What kind of energy do I want to carry into 2026?

From there, you can reverse-engineer your goals in a way that supports your wellbeing—not just your productivity. For example:

If you want to feel more peace, maybe the goal is to implement better boundaries.

If you want to feel more energized, maybe the goal is to prioritize rest and movement.

If you want to feel more fulfilled, maybe it’s time to recommit to a long-held dream.

The Power of Mid-Year Reflection

Here’s something powerful: July is actually the perfect time for honest assessment—not panic, but clarity. You’re far enough into the year to have real data about what’s working and what isn’t, but you still have time to make meaningful adjustments. Mid-year reflection takes courage because it asks us to look at where we really are, not where we think we “should” be. It requires us to celebrate unexpected progress while also acknowledging areas where we’ve drifted from our intentions. The beautiful thing about reflection without judgment is that it leads to sustainable momentum. When we can honestly assess our journey without shame or criticism, we free ourselves to make intentional choices about our next steps.

Ready to Reset? Join Me for a Live Deep Dive

If you’re reading this and thinking, “I need more than just tips—I need dedicated time to truly reset and realign”—you’re not alone. That’s exactly why I’m hosting: Reset & Reignite: Your Mid-Year Power Hour Plus Tuesday, July 29 at 6:30 PM CST

This isn’t about guilt or pressure. It’s 75 minutes of reflection, realignment, and momentum-building designed specifically for where you are right now—whether you’re crushing it, got a little off course, or never set goals in the first place. This session will meet you where you are and help you create a clear path forward. You’ll walk away with clarity, a customized action plan, and practical tools to support your second-half momentum.

[Save your spot HERE; it’s completely free.]

Your Mid-Year Moment

You don’t have to start over. You don’t have to abandon your past. You don’t have to do this alone.

You just have to take a moment to pause, breathe, and choose again.

This is your mid-year moment. Let it be one of intention, not pressure. One of power, not perfection.

You’re not behind. You’re right on time.

What’s one area of your life that’s asking for more attention as we move into the second half of 2025? I’d love to hear in the comments—and I hope to see you on July 29th as we reset and reignite together.

Let’s be honest: overwhelm can sneak in even when we’re doing work we love, serving causes we care about, and pursuing goals that truly matter. Whether it’s from competing priorities, unspoken expectations, or the pressure to “do it all,” overwhelm can quietly drain your energy, focus, and joy. And when it lingers, it impacts not just your productivity but your peace of mind and your self-confidence.

Throughout this year, we’ve explored how courage fuels confidence, how to navigate setbacks with resilience, and most recently, the power of self-belief in creating an empowered mindset. We’ve talked about believing in yourself, trusting your voice, and showing up with purpose. But what happens when the weight of responsibilities starts to dim that belief? When your inner critic gets louder not because you doubt your worth, but because you’re simply stretched too thin? That’s where mindfulness and intentional integration come in: not as trendy buzzwords, but as powerful tools to help us refocus, realign, and reclaim our time and energy so we can continue showing up for what matters most.

The Real Cost of Overwhelm

Overwhelm isn’t just about being “busy.” It’s the mental and emotional clutter that comes from feeling pulled in too many directions without enough space to breathe, think, or be. It’s what happens when our plates get so full that we lose sight of our priorities and start operating from reaction instead of intention. And while you may still be getting things done, inside, you might feel:

Disconnected from your purpose

Reactive instead of intentional

Guilty when you’re working and guilty when you’re resting

Like you’re always behind, no matter how much you accomplish

Here’s what I’ve learned: overwhelm doesn’t just impact our productivity. It erodes the very confidence and self-belief we’ve been working to build. When we’re constantly in survival mode, it becomes harder to trust our instincts, speak up with clarity, or take the courageous steps our goals require. If this sounds familiar, know that you’re not alone. And more importantly, it doesn’t have to stay this way.

What Mindfulness Actually Means in Daily Life

I want to be clear: I’m not talking about a 30-minute meditation or escaping to a mountaintop retreat. (If that’s your thing—go for it!) But for many of us, mindfulness looks like something far more practical and accessible:

It’s being present on purpose.

It’s creating small moments in your day where you pause, reflect, and choose to respond instead of just react. It’s the practice that helps you stay connected to your values and priorities, even when life gets chaotic. Mindfulness can look like:

Taking 60 seconds to breathe deeply before a big meeting

Pausing to check in with how you’re feeling instead of pushing through

Writing down what you’re grateful for at the end of a long day

Saying a short prayer to center your thoughts before diving into your task list

Asking yourself, “What do I need right now?” and actually listening to the answer

These aren’t just “nice to haves.” They’re essential resets that help you stay grounded and make decisions from a place of clarity rather than chaos. When we’re intentionally present, we can better discern what deserves our energy and what doesn’t.

Work-Life Balance vs. Work-Life Integration

Let’s go ahead and release the myth of perfect balance. Real life doesn’t always divide neatly into equal parts—and trying to force it often adds more pressure. Instead, I prefer the idea of work-life integration: the art of aligning your values, energy, and time so that both your personal and professional life are supported. This isn’t about doing more; it’s about doing what matters with greater intention and less internal conflict.

Here’s how that starts to take shape:

1. Define What Matters Most Right Now

What season are you in? Sometimes it’s a season of building, other times it’s rest or recalibration. Every yes needs to align with the season you’re in. When you name your current priorities clearly, it becomes easier to say no with clarity and yes with confidence. Try this: Write down your top 3 priorities for this season of life. When opportunities or requests come up, ask yourself: “Does this align with where I am right now?”

2. Establish Rhythms, Not Rigid Routines

Your life doesn’t have to be hyper-scheduled to feel stable. Instead of strict routines, try daily or weekly rhythms that offer structure with flexibility.

For example:

A morning rhythm of prayer, review, and intention-setting

A Sunday night prep session to map your week

A midweek pause to assess your energy and reset

An evening practice of gratitude and reflection

These rhythms help you respond with grace when life shifts because you’ve built in space to pivot. They also create pockets of mindfulness throughout your week.

3. Practice Saying “No” with Purpose

Overwhelm often grows in the spaces where we say yes to everything, except ourselves. Remember what we talked about with self-belief? Sometimes your next level of peace will come from trusting yourself enough to say:

“Not right now.”

“That’s not aligned with my current focus.”

“Thank you, but I need to pass.”

Saying no doesn’t make you unreliable. It makes you honest, healthy, and intentional. It’s actually an act of courage that protects your capacity to show up fully for what matters most.

4. Honor Your Energy, Not Just Your Calendar

You’re not a machine. Some tasks drain you. Others fill you up. Begin noticing your energy patterns: When do you feel focused? When do you feel foggy? What activities energize you versus what depletes you? Use that awareness to plan your week—prioritizing high-energy windows for deep work and building in room for rest. Protect your energy as fiercely as your time. This isn’t selfish; it’s strategic. When you operate from a place of sustainable energy, you make better decisions, communicate more clearly, and show up with the confidence and presence others need from you.

5. Create Boundaries That Serve You and Others

Boundaries aren’t walls; they’re bridges to sustainable success. Whether it’s turning off email after a certain hour, stepping away from social media on weekends, or blocking time to eat lunch without multitasking, it all adds up. Small boundaries create space for big breakthroughs. Boundaries are where your peace gets protected and your priorities get honored.

You Deserve a Life That Supports You

Here’s what I want you to remember: Overwhelm will happen. It’s part of being human and pursuing meaningful work. But it doesn’t have to run your life or rob you of the confidence you’ve been building. With small, consistent choices grounded in mindfulness and intentional integration, you can create a rhythm that supports both your purpose and your peace. You can trust yourself to make good decisions about where to invest your time and energy. You can show up powerfully without burning out.

You are allowed to choose ease. You are allowed to pause. You are allowed to take care of yourself and still be powerful.

As we continue this journey of building confidence and courage together, remember that self-care isn’t separate from success; it’s what makes sustainable success possible.

Challenge for June

As we head into a new month, I invite you to take one small but intentional step:

What’s one boundary you need to create or reinforce? What’s one rhythm that would help you feel more grounded?

You don’t need to overhaul everything. Just begin. Because small steps toward clarity lead to big shifts in confidence, and that’s exactly what we’re building together. In our next post, we’ll explore how to maintain momentum and confidence as we transition into summer, including strategies for staying connected to your purpose when routines naturally shift and schedules become more flexible.

What resonated most with you in this post? I’d love to hear how you’re creating more space for peace and intention in your life. Share your thoughts in the comments below.

“Confidence doesn’t always roar. Sometimes, it whispers, ‘I can do this,’ even when everything feels uncertain.” May invites us into renewal. As spring deepens and the world around us blooms, there’s a gentle but powerful invitation to do the same—to stretch, to grow, to reclaim the energy and belief we may have lost along the way. We’ve all heard it before—believe in yourself. It sounds simple, maybe even cliché. But when life is stretching you, when your confidence feels shaken, or when you’re sitting on the sidelines of your own dreams, that phrase hits differently.

In my last blog post, From Vision to Action, I wrote about the power of clarifying your goals and taking meaningful steps toward them. This month, I want to go deeper—beneath the vision boards and productivity hacks—into the emotional fuel behind it all: self-belief. Self-belief isn’t just motivational language—it’s a powerful mindset that shapes how we show up, speak up, and step forward. And when we’re serious about cultivating confidence and courage, self-belief is where it all begins.

Why Self-Belief Matters More Than You Think

Self-belief isn’t a buzzword. It’s a bedrock. It’s what allows us to show up for our dreams, especially when our knees are shaking. It’s what helps us bounce back from setbacks, silence self-doubt, and say “yes” to purpose and “no” to pressure. Whether you’re pursuing a new credential, launching a business, writing your first blog post, or simply trying to reclaim your energy amid a demanding life—you’re engaging in the radical act of believing in yourself.

Self-belief is more than a positive thought. It’s the quiet conviction that you are capable. It says:

“My voice matters. My story is still being written.”

“I may not have it all figured out, but I’ll take the next step anyway.”

“I’ve failed before, but that doesn’t make me a failure.”

It’s not arrogance or perfection. It’s a rooted belief that your life has value, your growth has purpose, and your future is worth showing up for. But here’s the truth: self-belief doesn’t always come naturally—especially for women who’ve been told to doubt themselves, question their instincts, or play small.

Many of us have internalized a quiet critic that whispers:

“You’re not ready.”

“You should wait until it’s perfect.”

“Who do you think you are to do this?”

And when those thoughts linger, it’s easy to delay dreams, shrink in rooms you were called to stand tall in, or hesitate to pursue your next level.

I know, because I’ve been there too. For me, this lesson hit home for me a few years ago when I recommitted to earning my ICF credential. I didn’t feel completely ready. I was juggling more than usual and battling that all-too-familiar imposter voice whispering, “What if you fail?” But I chose to act anyway. And that decision—to trust that readiness would follow commitment—was transformational. Readiness didn’t come first. Belief did.

Self-Belief is a Skill, Not a Trait

If you’ve been reading Flourishing Fiercely for a while, you know we’ve touched on confidence, courage, perfectionism, micro-habits, and embracing setbacks. But at the core of each of those themes is one essential truth: self-belief is a skill—and it can be cultivated. But first, we need to name what gets in the way.

What Undermines Self-Belief?

Even as a coach, speaker, and trainer, I’ve experienced all the common culprits that erode our confidence:

Negative self-talk: That voice that replays every mistake and magnifies every flaw.

Imposter syndrome: The nagging feeling that your success is just luck—and you’re one mistake away from being exposed.

External doubt: The comments or critiques (sometimes well-meaning) that make you second-guess your worth or direction.

I’ve hesitated before pressing “publish,” wondered whether I was the right voice for the room, or struggled to juggle all the hats I wear— mother, coach, entrepreneur, facilitator, employee. Sound familiar? If so, know this: you’re not alone. And even better—you’re not stuck.

Cultivating an Empowered Mindset: What it Really Takes

So how do we shift from self-doubt to self-belief? From playing small to showing up powerfully? Here’s what I’ve learned—and continue to practice:

Challenge the Inner Critic with Truth

Your mind will replay old stories—some from childhood, some shaped by setbacks. But not every thought deserves your agreement. Start noticing when self-doubt shows up. Write it down. Then ask:

“Is this true, or is this fear?”

“Is this a fact or a feeling?”

“What would I say to a friend in this moment?”

Speak back with truth. Your voice, your experiences, your presence—they matter.

Surround Yourself with Courageous Community

Confidence grows faster in community. When you’re around people who are doing hard things, stepping into purpose, and encouraging others to rise—you start to believe you can too. Whether it’s a trusted friend, a sister circle, a coach, or a group that sees you—don’t underestimate the power of being surrounded by courage. Let people speak life into you. Sometimes we borrow belief from others until we fully claim our own.

Keep a “Wins” Journal

Too often, we forget how far we’ve come. We remember the mistakes, but overlook the moments we were brave, consistent, or resilient. Start documenting small wins—times you made a decision, used your voice, completed a hard task, or got back up. Let that journal become proof of your growth. On days when self-belief feels distant, it’s your reminder that you can do hard things.

Start Before You Feel Ready

Here’s a hard truth: confidence often comes after the action. Many of us wait to feel 100% sure before we move. But growth happens when we do it scared, speak up unsure, or take the leap while still learning. The more you move, the more you prove to yourself that you’re capable—and that’s how self-belief builds.

Anchor Yourself in Faith

For me, prayer is more than a spiritual practice—it’s a grounding reminder that I’m not doing this alone. In moments of fear, uncertainty, or transition, I’ve leaned into prayer not just for peace, but for clarity, strength, and direction. Believing in yourself doesn’t mean relying only on yourself. It’s believing that you’ve been given gifts for a reason—and you’re meant to use them.

Practice Compassionate Self-Talk

Start by tuning into how you speak to yourself. Would you say those same words to a loved one? Probably not. Replace harshness with kindness. Here are a few affirmations that have helped me shift my internal dialogue:

“I am worthy of the space I take up.”

“My voice, presence, and story matter.”

“I show up—on purpose, with purpose.”

These affirmations aren’t fluff. Neuroscience shows us that our thoughts shape our reality. Positive self-talk literally rewires the brain toward resilience and courage.

Reframe Setbacks as Feedback

Setbacks don’t signal failure. They signal learning. When we shift from “What did I do wrong?” to “What did I learn?” we take back our power. A few year ago, I had a season where everything felt like too much—travel, training, strategy work, and personal commitments collided. I felt overwhelmed, not because I was incapable, but because I hadn’t recalibrated. That awareness didn’t come from shame—it came from reflection. It allowed me to reset with more clarity and grace.

Protect Your Energy with Intentional Boundaries

Boundaries aren’t about shutting people out—they’re about honoring what matters most. Emotional resilience is closely tied to how we manage our time, energy, and attention.

Ask yourself:

What am I saying yes to out of obligation?

Where am I stretching myself too thin?

What do I need to reclaim my peace?

Just recently, I said no to a potential opportunity that looked good on paper but didn’t align with my long-term goals. And you know what? The peace I felt afterward confirmed it was the right decision.

You Already Have What It Takes

If you’ve struggled with self-belief, you’re not alone. But the good news? It’s not something you’re either born with or without—it’s something you can cultivate. Self-belief is not something you’re waiting to earn—it’s something you’re choosing to embrace. It lives in your daily thoughts, your intentional choices, and your willingness to keep showing up. Even on hard days. Especially on hard days.

Confidence starts with courage. Courage starts with belief. And belief? It starts with you choosing to try—again and again. So this month, ask yourself:

Where am I underestimating myself?

What would shift if I believed I was already equipped?

Who do I need to become to believe in myself more deeply?

In my blog post later this month, I will explore how to navigate the overwhelm that often stands in the way of clarity and confidence. It will offer practical, real-life strategies for mindfulness and work-life integration, so you can stay grounded and focused while showing up for what matters most.

Until then, I invite you to pause and ask yourself: Where in your life could a little more belief change everything?

Let this be the season you start showing up like you believe your life has purpose—because it does. You don’t have to wait until you “feel ready.” You just have to start.

Setbacks are inevitable on any journey of growth and self-improvement. Whether in our careers, personal lives, or entrepreneurial pursuits, we will all face obstacles that challenge our confidence. But what if we viewed setbacks not as failures but as stepping stones to greater resilience and self-trust? In my last post, we explored how courage and confidence fuel our ability to take action, but even the most courageous among us encounter setbacks. The real test of confidence isn’t just in stepping forward—it’s in how we respond when things don’t go as planned. Today, I want to dive into how we can navigate setbacks, manage negative thinking, and emerge stronger and more confident on the other side.

The Impact of Negative Thinking

Our inner critic can be our greatest obstacle. Thoughts like “I’m not good enough” or “What if I fail?” can paralyze us. However, negative thinking doesn’t have to derail your progress. By recognizing and challenging these thoughts, you can transform them into a source of motivation.

I’ve faced this in my entrepreneurial journey. Not every idea worked, but every setback offered a valuable lesson. After a workshop didn’t meet expectations, I took time to reflect and adjust my approach, leading to a more impactful experience in future sessions. Likewise, in my professional career, there were moments where I felt overwhelmed by competing priorities. Last year, I struggled to balance my leadership responsibilities while also growing my business. It felt like no matter how much effort I put in; I was always falling short somewhere. But by taking a step back, reassessing my goals, and prioritizing what truly mattered, I was able to regain my footing.

Common Cognitive Distortions and How to Reframe Them

Catastrophizing: Assuming the worst possible outcome will happen. Instead of thinking, “This failure will ruin everything,” reframe it as, “This setback is a learning experience that will help me grow.”

Personalization: Taking responsibility for things outside your control. Instead of thinking, “It’s my fault the team didn’t succeed,” try, “I did my best, and external factors played a role.”

All-or-Nothing Thinking: Seeing situations in black and white. Instead of thinking, “If I fail once, I’ll never succeed,” shift to, “Every step forward is progress, even if it isn’t perfect.”

Strategies for Managing Negative Thinking

Overcoming negative thinking starts with intentional strategies that help us reframe our mindset and build resilience. Here are a few practices that have helped me and can support you:

Practice Self-Compassion: Instead of harsh self-criticism, treat yourself with the same kindness and understanding you’d offer a friend. In my January 2024 series about cultivating a positive mindset, we explored how shifting your inner dialogue can set the foundation for growth. If something doesn’t go as planned, remind yourself that failure is part of success, not the opposite of it.

Revisit Your “Why”: When setbacks shake your confidence, reconnecting with your purpose can reignite your motivation. In my early days as a public speaker, I almost turned down my first opportunity. The fear of ‘what if I fail?’ loomed large. What helped to minimize the fear and quiet the negative thinking was preparing, practicing, and leaning into my community for encouragement.

Use Small Wins to Rebuild Confidence: Setbacks can make us feel like we’re back at square one, but recognizing small wins can help shift that mindset. In October, we discussed the importance of discipline and gratitude in achieving long-term success. One way to navigate setbacks is through gratitude journaling—reflecting on lessons learned rather than fixating on what went wrong.

Lean on Your Support System: Surrounding yourself with people who uplift and encourage you can make all the difference. When I struggled to balance my leadership responsibilities while growing my business, I felt like I was falling short everywhere. But by reassessing my priorities and seeking guidance from mentors, I was able to regain clarity and move forward with renewed confidence.

The Power of Reframing Setbacks

When we encounter setbacks, our initial reaction is often frustration, disappointment, or self-doubt. However, shifting our perspective can make all the difference. Just as we discussed in my post about micro habits, small consistent actions can help rebuild confidence after setbacks. Whether it’s writing one positive affirmation or taking one small step forward, progress is made in the moments when we choose persistence over perfection.

Personally, I’ve faced numerous setbacks throughout my journey—particularly when launching my business, Mission ENSPIRE. There were moments when I questioned if I was on the right path. A project that didn’t gain traction or a slow season in revenue could have easily made me give up. But instead, I leaned on my support system, revisited my goals, and took small but intentional steps forward. Looking back, I realize those setbacks were necessary stepping stones to building something sustainable.

Building Resilience Through Setbacks

Resilience is the ability to recover from difficulties, and it plays a crucial role in confidence-building. Developing resilience involves shifting our mindset and cultivating habits that allow us to bounce back stronger. Here are some practical exercises to strengthen resilience:

Journaling for Reflection: Write about a recent setback and explore what you learned from it. Identify at least one positive takeaway.

Gratitude Practice: List three things you are grateful for, even in the midst of challenges. Gratitude shifts focus from failure to opportunity.

Visualization: Picture yourself, overcoming the setback and moving forward. This mental exercise rewires your brain to approach challenges with confidence.

Affirmations: Replace negative self-talk with positive affirmations. For example, “I am capable of handling challenges and learning from them.”

The Confidence Roadmap

The journey to self-confidence isn’t linear. It’s a dynamic process requiring courage, resilience, and adaptability. By adopting a long-term perspective, you can build confidence that endures through life’s highs and lows.

Set Intentional Goals: Define clear, actionable goals that align with your values and passions.

Embrace Lifelong Learning: Commit to ongoing growth through experiences and self-development.

Cultivate Gratitude: Regularly reflect on accomplishments and the support you’ve received.

Mentor and Be Mentored: Sharing your journey fosters personal and collective growth.

Celebrate Progress: Confidence isn’t built solely on reaching the destination—acknowledge each milestone along the way.

Moving Forward with Hope and Resilience

If setbacks are inevitable, then hope is essential. It’s what allows us to believe in the possibilities ahead, even when obstacles appear. As I wrote last fall, discipline and gratitude are key ingredients for long-term success. Even in the face of setbacks, practicing gratitude allows us to reframe our challenges and focus on opportunities for growth.

In my next post, I’ll explore how hope fuels growth and how to cultivate it in our daily lives. Until then, I invite you to reflect—how have your setbacks shaped your journey? What lessons have you gained, and how will you move forward with renewed confidence?

Welcome to my first blog post of 2025! I know it’s already March, and you may be wondering why I’m just now returning to blogging. The truth is, I needed time to rest, reflect, and be intentional about what I wanted to share this year. The past few months have been filled with deep reflection—balancing my work, managing overwhelming responsibilities, and processing all that is happening in the world. Rather than rushing back into writing, I wanted to make sure that when I did return, it was with a clear purpose. Now, with renewed clarity, I am excited to move forward with a focus on Confidence and Courage—two interwoven qualities that, when cultivated intentionally, can redefine our lives.

Rest has been a crucial part of this journey. In my previous blog series, I explored how stepping back can be just as powerful as pushing forward. Taking intentional breaks allows us to regain perspective, replenish our energy, and ultimately show up stronger. The pause I took at the beginning of this year wasn’t about avoidance—it was about preparation. I knew I wanted my words to be impactful, and that required giving myself space to ensure I was writing from a place of alignment rather than obligation. At the same time, my day job demanded more of me than usual. Juggling responsibilities and commitments while maintaining a sense of personal fulfillment can be overwhelming. There were moments when I questioned whether I could balance it all. But through this experience, I realized that confidence and courage don’t mean having everything figured out all the time. They mean showing up even when things feel uncertain and trusting that we can navigate whatever challenges arise.

Understanding the Relationship Between Courage and Confidence

Courage is the spark that ignites action in the face of fear. Confidence, on the other hand, is the steady flame that keeps us moving forward after the initial leap. Consider the first time you had to deliver a presentation to an audience. The courage to stand up and speak—despite a pounding heart and shaky hands—came first. The confidence you now feel when addressing a crowd was built over time through repeated action and positive outcomes. For many of us, fear often masquerades as a warning sign to stop. However, what if we reframe fear as an indicator of opportunity? When fear arises, it’s a sign that we are stepping outside our comfort zones—the very space where growth happens. In my reflections on “Chapter 48: Embracing Growth, Gratitude, and New Possibilities,” I realized how often courage paved the way for my confidence. Each step—whether navigating a challenging project or trying something entirely new—was rooted in an intentional decision to act despite uncertainty.

Action Steps to Build Courage and Confidence

Start Small: Courage doesn’t have to mean making monumental changes overnight. Identify small, manageable risks you can take daily. Each small act of bravery strengthens your courage muscle.

Celebrate Wins: Confidence grows when we acknowledge our successes, no matter how small. Take time to reflect on moments where courage led to positive outcomes, reinforcing your ability to succeed.

Reframe Setbacks: Instead of viewing setbacks as failures, see them as opportunities to learn. Confidence is bolstered when we realize that mistakes are stepping stones, not roadblocks.

Seek Support: Surround yourself with people who encourage and challenge you. A supportive community provides the safety net needed to take risks.

Courage as a Habit: Building Confidence Through Consistent Action

Have you ever noticed how habits shape your daily life? From the way you start your morning to how you wind down in the evening, habits define much of our behavior. When it comes to building self-confidence, courage must also become a habit—a deliberate practice embedded in our routines.

Courage isn’t a one-time act; it’s a skill that grows stronger with repetition. Much like going to the gym builds physical strength, consistent acts of bravery strengthen your mental and emotional resilience. Over time, these consistent actions translate into confidence. In my past reflections on micro habits and self-improvement, I emphasized the power of tiny steps. Making courage a habit doesn’t mean leaping into drastic changes overnight. It means incorporating intentional acts of bravery into your daily routine—small but meaningful moments where you choose courage over comfort.

Steps to Make Courage a Daily Habit

Set Micro-Challenges: Identify small but meaningful ways to step outside your comfort zone daily. This could be as simple as initiating a conversation with someone new or volunteering for a task at work.

Create Accountability: Share your goals with a trusted friend or mentor. Accountability motivates you to follow through on courageous actions.

Reflect and Adjust: Keep a courage journal to document your progress. Write about moments when you stepped up, how it felt, and what you learned. Reflection amplifies the impact of each courageous act.

Practice Self-Compassion: Embracing courage doesn’t mean you won’t feel fear or doubt. Be kind to yourself on days when courage feels harder to muster. Remember, consistency matters more than perfection.

Lean on Your Community: As I explored in my previous posts on building a strong support network, surrounding yourself with people who uplift and inspire you is key to sustaining habits. Find those who challenge and encourage you to step into your fullest potential.

Keep Growing, Keep Going

By embedding courage into your daily habits, you’ll create a powerful cycle where confidence grows with every brave step forward. Growth isn’t always linear, and challenges will arise—but each challenge is an opportunity to strengthen your resilience. In the next post, we’ll explore how to navigate setbacks and quiet negative self-talk so you can keep moving forward with confidence and clarity. Until then, I challenge you to take one bold step today—no matter how small. Whether it’s speaking up, trying something new, or pushing past self-doubt, every act of courage fuels your confidence.

Keep growing, keep going—you’ve got this!

As we prepare to say goodbye to 2024, there’s an undeniable excitement in the air—a fresh chapter waiting to be written. A new year symbolizes potential, offering us the chance to start anew, pursue uncharted dreams, and make meaningful progress. Looking back on my recent post, “Chapter 48: Embracing Growth, Gratitude, and New Possibilities,” I reflected on the lessons I’ve learned and the milestones I’ve celebrated. It was a chance to pause, honor the past, and truly appreciate the growth that has come my way. And now, it’s time to turn those lessons into fuel for bold action. The question is: What bold steps will you take to shape your vision for 2025? Let’s explore how we can set ourselves up for a year filled with purpose, opportunity, and resilience, and make 2025 a year that truly reflects our dreams.

The Power of Vision

Great accomplishments begin with great clarity. Vision is the spark that lights the path to our goals, giving us direction and focus. Without it, we risk wandering through our days without a sense of purpose or fulfillment. When I launched this blog early in 2023, it wasn’t just about creating content—it was about connecting with you, my readers, and sharing tools to inspire both personal and professional growth. That vision of helping others achieve their goals kept me motivated even when balancing a full-time job with my entrepreneurial ambitions felt overwhelming. What drives me is knowing that every post, every interaction with you, contributes to a larger vision of empowerment and growth for you my readers. It’s easy to get caught up in the day-to-day, but taking time to clarify your vision can help guide you when the road gets tough. A vision gives you purpose, even when the path is unclear.

Tips for creating your vision:

Write it down: Spend time journaling about your dreams for 2025. What do you want to achieve? What will be the most fulfilling for you? This act of writing solidifies your commitment to the future.

Visualize daily: Create a vision board or use digital tools to keep your goals visible. Visualizing your success every day reminds you why your vision is worth pursuing. For me, creating visual reminders has been a powerful tool to keep my focus sharp.

Align with values: Your vision should reflect your core values. For example, my business is rooted in helping women prioritize their growth. When your goals align with what matters most to you, it’s easier to stay committed.

When you anchor your goals in a clear vision, it’s like having a North Star guiding you through each decision and challenge.

Preparing for Change

If there’s one constant in life, it’s change. And as uncomfortable as it can sometimes feel, embracing change is essential for growth. Whether it’s new career opportunities or unexpected setbacks, change is the gateway to transformation. Looking at 2024, I’ve been humbled by some of the opportunities that came my way—like the chance to facilitate training at the National FOC Convening in Mesa and learn from an incredible network of leaders in the field. I also had the unexpected thrill of riding in a driverless car, which seemed like a metaphor for how we can learn to embrace the future, even when it feels unfamiliar. This experience taught me that adaptability isn’t just about responding to external circumstances—it’s also about cultivating an openness to new possibilities. Reflecting on my own journey, I realized that change often comes disguised as discomfort. In the moments when I felt uncertain—whether about my business, my goals, or my own abilities—were often the moments when the most growth happened.

Strategies to build resilience and embrace change:

Set micro-goals: Instead of tackling massive changes all at once, break them into smaller, manageable steps. Small wins build momentum and confidence.

Reflect and adjust: Regularly check in on your progress. Ask yourself: What’s working? What isn’t? In 2024, I had to adjust my approach to podcasting and focus on the areas where I could give my best effort. Don’t be afraid to pivot.

Practice gratitude: Focusing on what you have instead of what you lack can shift your mindset. When challenges arise, embrace them as opportunities for growth and learning.

By preparing for change and staying flexible, we allow ourselves to grow in unexpected ways, even when the road ahead isn’t perfectly clear.

Taking Intentional Action

A vision is only as powerful as the action it inspires. The most successful goals are those that are rooted in intentional action—where each step we take aligns with our values and aspirations. For me, intentional action often means breaking down my big ideas into manageable tasks. Whether it’s launching a new product or hosting workshops, I’ve learned that progress isn’t about waiting for the perfect moment—it’s about taking that first imperfect step and building momentum from there.

In my own journey, I’ve found that tools like my Monthly Planning Journal have been essential for staying organized and focused on my long-term goals. When I first launched the Momentum Mastermind Set—a business tool bundle to help people prioritize their goals and track their success—it was a leap of faith, but the planning I put into it made the leap easier to manage.

Tools to support intentional action:

Plan with purpose: Use journals or planners to map out your monthly objectives and track progress. I’ve used my own tools to break down larger projects into weekly and daily action steps.

Set accountability measures: In 2024, I leaned heavily on peers and mentors to keep me grounded and focused on my entrepreneurial growth. Having a trusted support network has been crucial.

Celebrate small wins: Progress, no matter how small, deserves recognition. This mindset has been crucial in maintaining momentum, even during setbacks.

Action, no matter how small, creates momentum. When you commit to showing up consistently, you’ll be amazed at the progress you can make.

Embracing Community and Support

No journey is meant to be traveled alone. One of the greatest lessons I’ve learned in 2024 is the importance of community and the power of shared growth and support. Over the past year, I’ve experienced firsthand the power of connections—whether it’s reconnecting with my classmates at my high school reunion, meeting colleagues at the LISC Midwest Office Retreat, or attending the Congressional Black Caucus Annual Legislative Conference. These connections have given me new perspectives, support, and inspiration, making my journey feel less isolated and much more collaborative.

Ways to foster connections in 2025:

Attend events: Join workshops or conferences that align with your interests. For example, my participation in the Voices of Color Summit has been both a humbling and energizing experience.

Seek mentorship: Learning from those further along the path can fast-track your growth. Mentors have been invaluable in helping me refine my goals.

Be a resource: Building community starts with offering your own support and expertise. By serving others, you create a foundation of mutual respect and collaboration.

Community fuels growth, offering strength and perspective when we need it most. It’s about knowing that you don’t have to do everything on your own.

Conclusion: A Bold Call to Action

2025 is a blank canvas, brimming with possibility. The way you choose to fill it is entirely up to you. Let this be the year you dream bigger, embrace change with courage, and take intentional steps toward your vision. The future isn’t something to wait for—it’s something to create.

As this is my final post of the year, I want to take a moment to express my gratitude for being part of this journey with me. 2024 has been a year of growth, and I’m excited to see what 2025 holds for all of us. I’ll be back with my first post of the year in mid-January, where we’ll dive into new strategies and insights to start the year strong.

So, I’ll leave you with this: What is one bold action you will take to prepare for 2025? Share your thoughts in the comments, and let’s hold each other accountable for making 2025 our best year yet.

As we bring Mindset March to a close, let’s dive into two critical elements for fostering an unshakeable growth mindset – resilience and creativity. Developing resilience equips you to view setbacks as opportunities for learning rather than sources of discouragement. Simultaneously, nurturing creativity opens doorways to innovation that propel you past obstacles towards your aspirations. Integrating both these mindsets is a potent catalyst for personal and professional growth.

Let’s start by examining resilience – that powerful ability to adapt positively to challenges and bounce back from difficulties. Early in my entrepreneurial journey, I really struggled with resilience when faced with rejection or failures. I would get mired in self-doubt and harsh self-criticism rather than objectively assessing what went wrong so I could adjust my approach. It was incredibly demoralizing and made me hesitant to take calculated risks that could advance my business’s growth.

For years, I grappled with a harsh inner critic that diminished my resilience during setbacks in my personal development efforts. Any time I’d deviate from a goal like sticking to an exercise routine or intentional spending plan, I would berate myself mercilessly until feeling too discouraged to keep trying. It was a vicious, self-sabotaging cycle. Building resilience meant developing self-compassion – realizing that lapses are inevitable and don’t negate all the hard work. By reframing slip-ups as opportunities to get back on track rather than failures, I cultivated the resilience to persist through ebbs and flows on my journey.

Over time, I learned to reframe those perceived stumbles not as signs of my ineptitude but as inevitable learning experiences on the path to mastering any new skill or venture. Developing this mindset of treating setbacks as insight opportunities rather than indictments of my self-worth was transformative. It gave me the perspective and resilience to boldly keep evolving my strategies based on those lessons learned.

For you, building resilience could involve adjusting your self-talk when you encounter a challenge, leaning on your support network for encouragement during rough patches, or regularly celebrating progress milestones as “resilience wins.” Journaling about failures to extract key lessons can also help maintain an objective outlook. The key is adopting practices that reinforce viewing obstacles as surmountable stepping stones rather than roadblocks.

Let’s now turn our attention to creativity – that boundless wellspring of ingenuity that allows us to approach challenges with novel solutions. Whether you’re an entrepreneur looking to differentiate your business, a professional aiming to bring fresh ideas to your organization, a parent needing creative approaches to modern family dynamics, or simply someone striving for personal growth, consistently nurturing your creativity is vital. However, finding inspiration can often feel daunting amidst the daily hustle of life and work routines.

One creativity-boosting practice that intrigues me is the concept of “creative cross-training” – regularly exposing yourself to new subjects, hobbies, art forms or other novel stimuli outside your typical work routines. From what I’ve heard, this can be an excellent way to keep your mind nimble and primed for innovative thinking. For example, taking an improvisational comedy class could provide fresh perspectives on ideation and spontaneity. Or going on an architecture tour to appreciate different creative design principles. Immersing yourself in these varied perspectives and thought patterns can get your creative juices flowing in new ways, leading to breakthrough ideas you may then be able to apply to your entrepreneurial challenges. I’m really excited about experimenting with “creative cross-training” as a way to nurture my creativity and shake up any staleness in my routines this year.

Another creativity-boosting practice is to embrace “creative inconsistency.” Our brains can get lulled into restrictive patterns when we operate in the same environments and routines day after day. Shaking things up, even in small ways like changing your workspace layout, listening to different music genres, or daydreaming in new physical locations all help jar your mind into innovative thinking modalities. Tapping into your creative energy requires disrupting the patterns and environments that can lead to mental staleness. For professionals, this could mean rotating the meetings you attend or temporarily relocating your workspace to expose you to different perspectives. As a parent, injecting more artistic pursuits, imaginative play, or visits to creative spaces can recharge your mind’s innovative capacities. No matter your circumstances, introducing new sights, sounds, ideas, and experiences into your regular rhythms helps unlock creative insights.

For you, unleashing more creativity could involve simple practices like allocating “daydreaming” sessions to let your mind wander freely, immersing yourself in creative environments like art museums, taking a different route to familiar destinations, or even just people-watching to observe persona new perspectives. The goal is to shake up your routines in ways that jostle your brain into seeing things from refreshing new vantage points. Embrace the mindset that creative inconsistency is vital for dodging routines that confine your thinking to restrictive patterns and ruts. An open, curious stance towards continually refreshing your mind’s perspectives is what allows creativity to become a renewable resource.

As we transition into April and I reflect on my first year of blogging, I’m reminded that both resilience and creativity have been instrumental to my own mindset evolution over these past 12 months. There have been plenty of growth opportunities in the form of setbacks, rejections, and creative droughts. Yet, each was a catalyst for developing greater resilience by adjusting my perspective, which helped rekindle my creative spark when I needed fresh inspiration. It has been an exhilarating journey of personal development that I’m immensely grateful for.

This mindset work is never complete – it’s an ongoing practice of continually expanding our perspectives while bolstering the resilience, courage and innovative thinking needed to embrace life’s inevitable challenges as catalysts for achieving our loftiest visions. As Mindset March comes to a close, I hope you feel reinvigorated to tackle any obstacle through the lens of personal growth.

Celebrate the resilience and creative thinking you’ve already embodied, then look ahead with excitement for the new depths of those mindsets yet to be unearthed on your path of perpetual evolution. Next month, I’ll be sharing highlights and milestones from my first year of blogging – a testament to the power of perseverance and curiosity. Until then, keep flexing those resilience and creativity muscles for limitless growth!

Hello, and welcome back to this week’s installment of the blog! Last week I just jumped right into my topic without really explaining my plans for this month. I’m coining this month “Mindset March” because too often, we let limiting beliefs, self-doubt, and counterproductive thought patterns sabotage our ability to make positive changes and achieve our goals. That’s why I dedicated this month to exploring ways to overcome these self-imposed hurdles through personal stories, hard-won wisdom, and actionable mindset shifts.

As we have passed the halfway point of Mindset March, I hope you’ve been able to implement some strategies for cultivating a growth-oriented perspective – one that embraces challenges, learns from setbacks, quiets the inner critic, and propels you confidently toward your aspirations. If you’re just joining us now, don’t worry – there’s still time to adopt a mindset reset that can recharge you with unshakable drive for the rest of 2024.

This week, we’re focusing on two formidable inner foes that derail even the most driven individuals: procrastination and self-doubt. Procrastination is likely a familiar nemesis – that sly voice convincing you to postpone tasks under the guise of “I’ll get to it later.” Yet, as we know, “later” is often an elusive mirage where opportunities fade and stress compounds.

I vividly remember a time when procrastination completely derailed the launch of a new product for my business. I had spent months developing this offering, conducting market research, and planning out all the details. However, when it came time to actually build the sales page, film the promotional videos, and get everything ready, I found myself constantly putting it off for one reason or another. “I’ll just tweak the messaging one more time” or “I need to research a few more competitor products before finalizing my unique selling points.” These delays and excuses snowballed until the proposed launch date came and went with no product released. By the time I finally forced myself to take action, the momentum was lost, and I missed out on a prime sales window. Needless to say, I learned a hard lesson about the subtle impact procrastination can have.

Under the surface, procrastination stems from a web of fear, perfectionism, and misunderstanding our own energetic patterns. To unravel its grasp, we must first recognize these underlying drivers. Rarely is procrastination rooted in laziness alone. More often, it’s a coping mechanism masking anxieties about failure, criticism, feeling overwhelmed, or not living up to our full potential.

Powerful tactics for outmaneuvering procrastination include breaking formidable tasks into bite-sized steps and establishing clear deadlines. Massive projects can subconsciously trigger avoidance by appearing insurmountable. However, deconstructing that ambition into manageable micro-goals provides a series of motivating wins. Firm deadlines, meanwhile, create a productive urgency and prioritize what demands our focus.

For me, a huge procrastination trigger is being overwhelmed from seemingly massive tasks or initiatives. To combat this, I rely heavily on breaking down projects into discrete action steps and developing detailed project plans. By deconstructing any undertaking into a sequence of micro-tasks, the cognitive load feels much more manageable. I can fully focus on checking off one step at a time rather than becoming paralyzed by the enormity of the entire scope. Ticking off those small completion milestones provides a motivating trajectory as well.

As we call out procrastination’s undermining whispers, our growth journey inevitably brings us face-to-face with self-doubt. Whether navigating a career leap, creative venture, or simply pushing into new terrain, that incessant inner critic can leave us questioning our competence and worth.

There was a period early in my management career where I really struggled with self-doubt about being a capable leader. Anytime we hit obstacles or my team experienced failures, I was beset by profound feelings of being an inept, unqualified impostor who was putting on a shoddy performance in my role. This caused me to become overly deferential and hesitant about making decisions for fear of the consequences revealing my perceived shortcomings. The self-doubt made me micromanage tasks and avoid taking calculated risks that could advance our growth. Stuck in this mindset, I realized I was the one setting limitations on our team’s progress and impact. Re-framing my perspective on failures as learning opportunities was crucial for pulling myself out of that self-doubt spiral. I had to develop more self-awareness about when those insecure thoughts started creeping in so I could separate them from reality. With vulnerability and open conversations, my team found ways to productively push through setbacks rather than having me withdraw. It was a transformative experience in truly internalizing that self-doubt rarely represents truth – progress requires normalizing perceived missteps while keeping accountability for constant improvement.

Self-doubt often takes the form of a harsh inner voice warning about potential failure or embarrassment – that perpetual fear of being an “imposter” who doesn’t truly deserve their achievements. These sentiments frequently trace back to attributing success to luck rather than hard-earned skills honed over years of dedication. For many, self-doubt becomes a reflexive retreat into shame or harsh self-judgment anytime we approach the untested frontiers of growth.

However, these instinctive patterns of self-criticism fail to account for the immense effort, creativity and personal evolution required to reach our current levels of wisdom and accomplishment. One powerful practice for reframing self-doubt is making a detailed inventory of achievements, lessons learned, and capabilities cultivated along your journey so far. Periodically updating and reviewing this anthology serves as an antidote to our memory’s tendency to minimize progress.

Building a network of supportive peers, mentors and coaches can further reframe self-doubt as natural growing pains rather than signs of unworthiness. These perspectives from those further along remind us that bouts of insecurity arise for even the most confident high-achievers.

A big mindset shift for me has been consciously separating my self-worth and value as a person from any individual achievement or failure in my work/career. Any time my inner critic tries to latch onto a setback or shortcoming as evidence of my unworthiness, I have to pause and remember – my intrinsic worth is not conditional on external results. Yes, I hold myself to reasonably high standards in my profession, but I am so much more than just my latest win or loss. Practicing this perspective helps me extend myself compassion, understanding that in any endeavor, some failures or missteps are inevitable on the path of growth. Judging my entire self based on those is irrational and unfair. My self-worth persists regardless.

This week, choose one procrastination-fighting technique and one self-belief-bolstering ritual to incorporate daily. Notice how prioritizing consistent action and nurturing self-trust impact your productivity, outlook and willingness to embrace new challenges. Remember, overcoming these self-sabotaging patterns is an ever-evolving practice. However, each step you take to silence your inner critic and boldly show up unlocks new realms of fulfillment and impact.

Whether striving to launch a business, amplify your creativity or ascend within your professional field, procrastination and self-doubt are universal stumbling blocks. Yet rather than allowing these forces to obstruct your potential, you can transform them into catalysts for developing resilience, trust in your capabilities, and a voracious commitment to iterating your way toward growth. Stay dedicated to consistent effort and nurturing self-assurance – that’s how the transformative magic of this life path unfolds.
